The Department of Citizen Participation of the Cieza City Council reports that, through this new procedure, it will try to ensure that aid is distributed more fairly and equitably among associations, while eliminating a very important part of the political discretion component when granting this aid.

The Councillor for Neighborhood Relations in Cieza, Nerea Martínez, explained that, “with this new procedure, each association must submit a report detailing the activities they plan to carry out, the estimated budget for these activities, as well as other supplementary documentation that allows for the evaluation of the project.”

With this information -Martínez explains- and based on evaluation criteria that will be established in the call for subsidies (the representativeness of the association, the performance of other activities both in collaboration with the City Council and individually, as well as the complexity, variety and cost of the planned festivities program, as well as its contribution to social inclusion, the performance of intergenerational activities or recovery of our traditions) the award committee will distribute the 7,000 euros that this call for subsidies will consist of among the neighborhood associations of Cieza.

“With this proposal,” the councilwoman concludes, “we believe we are laying a strong foundation so that, on the one hand, each of the associations strives to improve the quantity and quality of their patron saint festivals, and on the other hand, we are introducing objective criteria, which set a precedent for future governments, so that the distribution of aid to all the neighborhood associations of Cieza is independent of the political affiliation of the government.”
