One of the most important gastronomic fairs in the Region of Murcia is undergoing a conceptual transformation with a revamped slogan, a new location, and a new management. From February 29th to March 3rd, the Parque Príncipe de Asturias will be a sight to behold. The three Michelin-starred chefs from the Region of Murcia will be on display.
'Taste Cieza', the Cieza Gastronomic Fair that is part of the tourism project Bloom 2024, will offer a renewed offering between February 29th and March 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Príncipe de Asturias, providing visitors with a satisfaction that is difficult to replace.
The presentation was led by the Mayor of Cieza, Tomás Rubio, and the Councilor for Commerce and Hospitality, Gertrudis Juliá, this Tuesday morning in the tasting room of the Estrella de Levante facilities in Espinardo, with the presence of its communications manager, Yayo Delgado. The Director General of Tourism Competitiveness and Quality, Patricio Sánchez López, was representing the Autonomous Community. Also present were food critics Sergio Gallego, Paco Rosa, and Concha Ancántara.
Degusta Cieza will combine all the ingredients for success. In its new location in Parque Príncipe de Asturias, accessible from the A-30 via the Cieza Centro exit, there will be more space for dining and entertainment, as well as a Mini Gourmet area for children that includes cooking workshops and activities.
3 Michelin-starred chefs from the Region of Murcia
The event will feature three Michelin-starred chefs from the Murcia region: Pablo González-Conejero from La Cabaña restaurant; María Gómez from Magoga; and Juan Guillamón from Almo.
Nine presentations will be given, including some local restaurateurs. All of these will include tastings of typical Cieza products, concerts, a DJ, and more. In short, there will be more than a hundred different culinary offerings over the four days, along with a novel and highly aesthetic roofing and air-conditioning system. Wines, Estrella de Levante beer, Coca-Cola Group soft drinks, a cocktail bar, a barbecue area, and several areas with low and high tables to make it easy for all visitors to enjoy the tapas.
Patricio Sánchez praised "the work being done by the Cieza City Council to position this gastronomic fair among the most important in the region" and guaranteed all necessary support from the Autonomous Community.
Juliá, for his part, noted that "this is, without a doubt, a step in the right direction for strengthening the relationship between gastronomy and tourism. The presence of local restaurants and bars at this fair represents an opportunity for Cieza to show visitors the reasons for its current position in the restaurant industry in the Region of Murcia."
Taste Cieza, one of the best gastronomic fairs in the region.
To establish itself as one of the best gastronomic events held throughout Murcia. That's the goal of 'Degusta Cieza,' a culinary event that will transform the city of Vega Alta into the region's gastronomic capital for four days.
Floración has become one of the most complete inland destinations in the Region of Murcia. In Cieza, everyone can find the perfect combination of nature, heritage, sports, culture, and gastronomy for an unforgettable stay. "Nothing compares to the feeling of well-being when contemplating a field of fruit trees in bloom," Gertrudis Juliá added.
Finally, Mayor Tomás Rubio emphasized that "there is no doubt that gastronomy and tourism are increasingly merging. We can safely say that gastronomic tourism is continually on the rise, becoming one of the most powerful attractions for all types of visitors."
In Tomás Rubio's opinion, it is possible to "link the native gastronomy of a land to the cultural identity of the people who inhabit it. That is our goal and our dream: to capture the tradition of gastronomic events that have been part of Floración's programs for years and quintessentialize them, reimagining them in an amalgam that relies on three essential pillars: the native gastronomy of Cieza and Murcia under the excellence of the region's great chefs; the cultural identity of a people who open their arms each year to the wonders of their fields in bloom; and, finally, a complete willingness to welcome foreigners, tourists who not only seek to visit a place, but also to take with them the essence that makes it unique: its colors, its aromas, and its flavors."
Economic development and traditional heritage
The councilor added that "given the growing importance of gastronomic tourism, along with its intrinsic promotion of local and regional identity, economic development, and traditional heritage, the Cieza City Council's strenuous efforts will focus on emphasizing these elements, which, when combined, can create a powerful tourism engine that offers visitors the full cultural identity of a land like ours."
Rubio finally thanked the sponsors for their support, "especially Estrella de Levante, for their collaboration in making 'Degusta Cieza' a reality this year, and I invite all Murcians and tourists from all over the world to visit Cieza during these days and take home the echoes of the soul and beauty of our unique homeland."
During the presentation, the following was projected: promotional video for Bloom 2024, performed by Kalon Bay, and the song by Kike Ruiz praising the benefits of the city of Cieza.
