Cieza City Council's Sports Councilor, Cristo Manuel Lucas, announced today, Friday, the activities that the Sports Department will offer during the month of July for the summer season.
The Mariano Rojas Municipal Sports Center swimming pools will open their doors this coming Thursday, June 27, and will continue until Sunday, September 1.
Opening hours will be Tuesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. Closing hours will be at 9 p.m. until Sunday, August 18, and from Tuesday, August 20, until the end of the season, until 8 p.m.
What's new this summer
As a new feature, free weekly swimming lessons will be offered for children born between 2013 and 2018. These lessons will be held by age group, Monday through Friday, between 9 and 11 a.m., in two sessions: 9:15 a.m. and 10:05 a.m.
Registration can be done at the reception desk of the Cieza Municipal Indoor Heated Swimming Pool between next Monday, June 24th, and Thursday, June 27th, both inclusive, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
It's important to note that the order in which participants register for the course is not binding. A lottery will be held on Friday the 28th at 11 a.m. in the Juan José Angostos Pavilion to allocate places in each course.
"This option was chosen to avoid further inconvenience to interested families, and we recommend that they take advantage of the available time slots to register."
For more information and any questions, the rules for this activity can be found on the Cieza Aquatic Sports Center's notice board and on the municipal website (www.cieza.es). You can also contact the Sports Department or the indoor pool reception, where all available information will be provided.
Activities during the opening
In addition, during swimming hours at the municipal pools, and as a new feature this year, there will be aquagym, a recreational and sports activity open to all users of any age.
It will be Tuesday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. throughout the month of July.
"These activities are new additions that Mayor Tomás Rubio's governing team wanted to incorporate this season as a complement to the activities at the sports center's pools, and we hope that users of the facilities will enjoy and appreciate them." In addition to these activities, another new feature this year will be the holding of an activity called "The Play Corner" in the Juan José Angostos Pavilion. This recreational and sports activity is organized through weekly workshops for children born between 2011 and 2018. These will take place Monday through Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Psychomotor, pre-sports, traditional, team sports, and sports skills games will be held every day of the week.
All of these workshops will also be free, and registration, as with the swimming courses, can be completed between Monday, June 24th, and Thursday, June 27th, at the indoor pool reception desk during the same hours: 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
As with the swimming courses, the order in which entries are received will not determine enrollment in the activity. A drawing will be held on Friday the 28th at 11:30 a.m. in the Juan José Angostos Pavilion to determine the final participants.
In addition to these new features, there's more. Indoor pool activities will continue throughout July. This center's activities program will feature new opening hours and activities offered: the weight room's opening hours have been extended from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Changes in schedules
The schedules for guided classes have been modified for both the morning and afternoon sessions. In the morning, classes will be extended and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in one-hour slots, and in the afternoon, guided classes will run from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., also in one-hour slots. In this case, as usual, the indoor pool will remain closed during the month of July, and in August, the center will be completely closed to the public.
Another new development regarding the start of the municipal indoor pool season is that swimming classes, which are held throughout the school year, will begin this year in September, a month earlier than the previous normal start date.
"This is one of the new features we've set out to improve the service we offer our users at the Aquatic Sports Center. We'll complement it with other features the entire Sports Department team is working on, which we'll fully inform you about in due course," Lucas said.
The councilor expressed his gratitude for "the efforts made by the Department of Sports technicians to plan all these activities, not to mention the technicians and other departments of our City Council, who together have made this entire activity plan a reality."
