We inform you that yesterday, Friday, December 10th, two students from the San José Obrero Primary School were received at the Ministry of Education for the presentation of diplomas for the national competition "A Constitution for All." The award was granted to them in December 2019, but due to the COVID-19 health crisis, they had not been able to be received by the authorities until now.
At the San José Obrero Primary School in Cieza, we work on aspects related to the celebration of Constitution Day every year around this time so that students learn the fundamental values of the Magna Carta, the important role it plays in our society, and that its articles are the benchmark of equality and freedom for all Spanish citizens. Participating in this contest introduces students to our 1978 Constitution, the supreme law of the Spanish legal system, to which all public powers and citizens of Spain are subject. This contest aims to stimulate and encourage students to reflect on the value and importance of our Constitution through stories, essays, poems, and other texts. Irene Ríos Salmerón, now in 5th grade, wrote a beautiful story featuring the lions at the entrance to the Congress of Deputies, and Inés Ruiz Martínez, now in 2nd year of Secondary Education at the Los Albares Secondary School, wrote a beautiful poem.
It's never too late if the joy is good, that's why from our educational center we are very happy with this great news and very proud of our students who have experienced a magnificent evening in Madrid, enjoying the Christmas lights, with a guided tour of the Congress of Deputies in which they were able to see the hemicycle and an exhibition in which they contemplated the originals of all the Constitutions of our country, and receiving their award from the Secretary of State for Education, Alejandro Tiana, who highlighted the role of the school in the construction of citizenship and congratulated all the winners, highlighting that without a doubt their work is an example of generosity on the part of the educational centers and the students and a demonstration of coexistence, citizenship and of wanting to exalt the Constitution as that which unites us all.
