The Department of the Environment, together with Aguas de Cieza, continues to carry out awareness-raising activities with the goal of keeping our streets, parks, and gardens in optimal condition. In this case, the campaign consists of distributing an eco-friendly dog waste picker.

The presence of abandoned dog waste on public roads is one of the main cleanliness and hygiene problems in many municipalities. This is a much more serious problem than it might seem. It's not just a visual or olfactory problem, but also a public health issue.

To carry out this new campaign, a team of monitors will be deployed at the various entrances to the town's schools. They will distribute these scoopers to pet owners, who are responsible for picking up their droppings.

This campaign will be complemented by classroom distribution by a group of volunteer students from the Pedro Rodríguez School, who will inform the rest of the students about the need to take care of our environment and will distribute poop scoopers to students who own pets.

This dustpan is made from recycled and biodegradable cardboard. It works like a tong that collects excrement and transforms into a box with handles for disposal in the nearest trash can or container.

This action is in addition to those already carried out throughout the year, such as the awareness campaigns "Pee Destroys Me," the drawing contest for schools "For a Poop-Free Cieza," the application of an "anti-pee" product, and the reinforcement of security cameras and increased police surveillance in the most affected areas.

Pet owners are reminded that they must be responsible for picking up after their pets. It's also recommended to carry a small bottle of equal parts water and vinegar to dilute their pet's urine, thus avoiding unpleasant odors, stains, and the effect of attracting other dogs to urinate in the same place.
