This project is funded exclusively by the municipality, and has already hired 49 people since its launch, up to this latest edition.

For the third consecutive year, the Cieza City Council, through its Department of Employment and Economic Development, has launched the Social Employment Program. This program takes into account the socioeconomic status of individuals and aims to recruit unemployed individuals with little or no household income. These individuals will be provided with an individualized job placement program to improve their chances of entering the labor market.

Unemployed individuals, job seekers, registered with the Cieza Employment and Training Service (SEF) office, and registered in the municipality are eligible to participate in the program. Participants were selected based on their family and personal circumstances (dependent children, disabilities, victims of gender-based violence, or risk of social exclusion), employment status (length of unemployment or registered as a job seeker with the SEF), and financial situation (annual disposable income per family member).

The work will consist of unskilled operational maintenance work on roads, public spaces, and municipal centers. Specifically, the project will include cleaning container stations, removing damaged billboards, overhauling the irrigation system at the watchtower, painting municipal facilities, painting some pedestrian crossings, and cleaning storm drains in Ascoy and the Los Prados Industrial Park.

This is the third time a program of this nature has been implemented in Cieza, with funding exclusively from the municipality. In 2017, 17 workers were hired, in 2018, 14 participated, and in 2019, 18 workers will be hired for a one-month contract.
