The city has received five Commitment to Tourism Quality awards in the Cieza destination through the SICTED (Comprehensive System of Spanish Tourism Quality in Destination) program.

The SICTED program is a tourism quality improvement initiative promoted by the State Secretariat for Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. It works with tourism services across 36 different sectors, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the tourist experience and satisfaction. In the Region of Murcia, the Directorate General for Tourism Competitiveness and Quality promotes this initiative, in this case, in collaboration with the Cieza City Council.

Five establishments in Cieza will receive the "Commitment to Tourism Quality" distinction this year (in June). This was agreed upon today at a meeting of the Cieza Tourism Quality Committee, which includes representatives from the General Directorate of Tourism Quality and Competitiveness, the Cieza City Council, tourism sector companies, and representatives from local businesses and the hospitality industry. This distinction recognizes the efforts of destinations and their tourism stakeholders in their pursuit of excellence in service provision.

In the last year, the number of establishments participating in the SICTED program in the Region of Murcia has tripled, signifying the region's commitment to quality tourism. Cieza is fully aligned with this message, having already added its first five establishments, with many more expected to follow in the coming months. This demonstrates Cieza's dedication to the continuous improvement of all its services.

The companies and entities that meet quality standards to provide the best attention and offer the best services to the customer are two official tourist guides of the town, the Folklore Interpretation Center, the Holy Week Museum House of Cieza and the Municipal Tourist Office.

Today's meeting of the Cieza Destination Quality Committee reviewed the activities carried out this year. These included training, support, and evaluation, as well as training sessions on using the SICTED platform, implementing best practice manuals, and developing improvement plans. Individual technical assistance and group workshops were conducted, working with each company on applying the best practice manuals. Finally, evaluations were carried out in recent days to verify compliance with the requirements for obtaining the certification.

Likewise, the meeting addressed some of the objectives for 2022, such as consolidating the destination and increasing the number of participating tourism companies and services through awareness-raising activities in the municipality.
