The Department of Finance informs the public that this year's property tax (IBI) bills are now available for collection. From now until June 5th, payments can be made on a voluntary basis for those without a direct debit. In the case of direct debits, please note that payments will be made in four installments on April 5th, June 5th, August 6th, and October 5th.

The receipts show a decrease in the total amount of 4% compared to the previous year, a result of the governing team's decision after requesting a lower coefficient when valuing the properties. Once the request and subsequent administrative procedures were submitted, the 2018 census was compiled, which already reflected this 4% reduction.

The Councilor for Finance, Antonio Ignacio Martínez-Real, commented that "this reduction has been possible, among other reasons, thanks to the significant reduction in debt we have achieved over the last two years. In 2018, we will pay approximately €615,000 less in debt than we did in 2016, of which €82,000 is in interest, which represents a significant saving. All of this, together with a better optimization of the Administration's resources, has led to an improvement in the provision of services, the ability to make significant investments, and a reduction in the tax burden."

Finally, the Finance Councilor offered a positive assessment of the economic situation, with a low debt percentage and a significant cash surplus, "something that has been achieved after overcoming the budgetary instability that existed in 2015 and implementing an economic and financial plan that affected the 2016 and 2017 fiscal years."
