Cieza's Agriculture Councilor, Antonio Moya, presented the Leader Project this Monday within the ADRI Vega del Segura EDLP (Educational and Agricultural Development) for the promotion of stone fruit, organized by ASOPEX, a member of the aforementioned group.
The purpose of the event is to distribute seasonal fruit, such as apricots, Paraguayan peaches, and nectarines, to tourists who take boat trips down the Segura River and pass through the city of Cieza and other municipalities in the Ricote Valley.
Moya noted that "the campaign aims to highlight the rich local and regional cuisine, with a special emphasis on healthy foods such as stone fruit, which is currently in the midst of its harvesting season and includes some varieties that will be protected by the Cieza Protected Geographical Indication."
This campaign, which launched a few days ago in the port city of Cartagena, targets cruise ship tourists who disembark at its port. Starting today, it will be launched in Cieza, targeting visitors who enjoy inland tourism.
The cylindrical plastic containers containing the fruit distributed free of charge were made at a special employment center in Molina de Segura.
The head of the ADRI Vega del Segura group, José Luis Tornero, stated that this stone fruit promotion campaign cost 24,000 euros.
