The new building, possibly the first museum hotel in the Region of Murcia, will integrate the important archaeological remains discovered, such as the tower and part of the medieval fortress wall, and will also house an exhibition area and a conference room.

Acting Councilor Antonio Moya explained this Wednesday that the development and land rezoning work in the area could be completed by September, the month in which construction of the hotel could begin. The conservation, restoration, and archaeological consolidation of the old tower, listed as a Cultural Heritage Site, and part of the wall are being supervised by Joaquín Salmerón, Director of Historical Heritage Archaeology for the Cieza City Council.

Moya insisted that "the goals are to provide more hotel rooms in Cieza and economically revitalize the city's old town. A budget modification of €90,000 is necessary to consolidate the tower and complete the development works. Construction of the hotel could begin in September, including 16 rooms, a restaurant, a museum, and a conference room. This is the original project, but it is subject to modifications. All the archaeological remains will be integrated into the new building."

The initial tender price for the construction of the API-6 (Casa de la Encomienda) development was €510,264, but the contract was ultimately awarded for €480,346.31 to the company Azuche, which is responsible for carrying out the development works to enable and establish all the services necessary for the operation of a hotel.

The development works will be financed entirely with the Cieza City Council's own resources, although a significant portion of the hotel's future construction revenue will come from European funds.

"This is a major project that will increase the number of hotel rooms in our city and provide a building of incalculable historical value," Moya concluded.
