A new round of competition has seen the club's teams record two wins and three losses.
The boys and girls of the men's mini team opened fire in Mula against Águilas. A hard-fought match between the younger players, with narrow leads for both teams, highlighting the evenly matched nature of the two squads. The Águilas team's greater accuracy in key moments led to a 50-40 defeat for the Ciezans. The match was incomprehensibly played on a regulation court for categories higher than the mini category, with little protection for playing elements such as the baskets. This was a key physical factor for athletes accustomed to training and playing on smaller courts.
At the Juan José Angostos Arena, a double session for the Cieza teams took on Alhama. First, the girls from the Asesoría Saorín Cadete Femenino team faced Alhama. It was a high-intensity match between both teams, in which every player who stepped onto the court gave their all. The visitors' superior quality, coupled with the home team's absences, quickly allowed them to secure a comfortable victory that grew in each quarter. Despite the 26-71 defeat, our players put in a strong performance, never letting up.
Next up was the junior men's team's turn in the highlight of the day, a rematch of the local derby. After a nerve-wracking first quarter, with a low shooting percentage, the Cieza players responded in an intense and exciting second quarter, with the scoreboard showing a 28-28 halftime score.
The blame for the fantastic second half played by the Siyâsa boys lay on Panos, their coach. They clearly dominated all aspects of the game, both technical and tactical, reflected in the final score of 57-70. Key to this victory was the support from the packed stands, which sportingly encouraged our fantastic players in every action.
On Sunday morning, in a double session, the girls from the Saorín Junior Women's Advisory Team faced Maristas in the silver division. The undefeated team, the competition's top team, gave the Cieza team no chance, dominating the match and securing a resounding 13-64 victory.
Next up, another thrilling game for the U18 men's team against Las Torres. A high-voltage match, demanding both physically and mentally. The visitors started with great accuracy from outside shooting, building an 8-point lead that, thanks to great defense, was gradually neutralized. This turnaround led to a lead on the scoreboard for the Cieza team, cemented by great defense and rebounding dominance, as well as electrifying transitions. Another 61-56 victory and third place in the standings.
Finally, on Sunday afternoon, the boys' under-12s faced Estudiantes Cartagena. Despite an intelligent game plan, the physical superiority of the Cartagena boys clearly imposed its rule from the first second, neutralizing any reaction capacity of our young team, which suffered a 65-30 defeat. Results: Mini Siyâsa 50- Águilas 40, Asesoría Saorin girls' under-12s 26- Alhama 71, Cieza eb 57- Junior Siyâsa 70, Asesoría Saorin girls' under-12s 13-Maristas 64, Cadet Boys Siyâsa 61-Las Torres 56, Estudiantes Cartagena 65- Boys' Under-12s Siyâsa 30.
