Municipal sources report the completion of the work on Santiago Street, which completes the remodeling of one of Cieza's streets with significant accessibility issues.
The project, awarded a public tender for €78,685.00, involved replacing sidewalks, street furniture, and streetlights, eliminating the problem of these fixtures, which, due to their location in the middle of the sidewalk, caused significant accessibility issues. Furthermore, the streetlights were replaced with LED lighting, thus fulfilling the commitments to energy efficiency and contributing to climate change mitigation.
In the words of the Councilor for Public Works, Mª Jesús López, "This is a highly-demanded and, at the same time, essential project, aligned with the strategy of the governing team, which has been working since its arrival to remove all architectural barriers in our municipality, in order to ensure that Cieza is accessible to all and can be enjoyed by all. This project also joins those already completed, those currently underway in Carlos V and Duque de Rivas, and which will be expanded to other areas where projects are already underway."
