Last Saturday, March 7th, the Mass for the Dead of the Royal Brotherhood of Our Jesus was celebrated in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, as well as services in honor of Our Lady of Good Success, patron saint of Cieza, as is the case every first Saturday of the month. The Mass was presided over by the image of Our Father Jesus of Nazareth on the left side of the High Altar, and by Our Lady of Good Success above the altarpiece. The Mass was officiated by the parish vicar, the Rev. José David Solano González.
After the mass, the new members were welcomed, a moment in which our brotherhood welcomes the new members of the previous year.
Immediately afterwards, our brotherhood presented a small souvenir to the Royal Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus of Nazareth and Christ of Calvary of Alcantarilla, in honour of the great friendship that had developed between them as a result of the events held to mark our 325th Anniversary. This souvenir was collected by the president of the Alcantarilla brotherhood, Mr. José Riquelme Oliva.
The awards for a lifetime of devotion to Our Father Jesus of Nazareth were then presented to Ms. Dolores Vázquez Rodríguez for her outstanding work in supporting this brotherhood, as well as in gratitude for donating part of her house to house our child image of Saint Mary Salome. The awards also went to Mr. Miguel Camacho Martínez and Mr. Francisco López Yuste for their more than thirty years of tireless work and membership in the board of directors of this brotherhood. Both were also directors of the Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias (Passion Brotherhoods Board), and Mr. Francisco was president of this brotherhood from 1994 to 2001.
The event concluded with a concert of processional marches by the "Buzzing Brass" Brass Quintet, which included performances of: The Hymn of Our Lady of Good Success by José Gómez Villa from Cieza; The Most Holy Christ of the Blood by Alberto Escámez; and Our Father Jesus by Emilio Cebrián.
