Last Saturday, October 11, the Capitol Theater in Cieza successfully hosted the opening concert of the Cieza Philharmonic, which offered a moving musical evening to benefit the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), based in Cieza.
Under the magnificent baton of conductor Francisco Ríos-López, the orchestra gave a performance that captivated a nearly packed Capitol Theatre with a supportive audience.
The main program featured Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major. This masterpiece, composed over two hundred years ago, came alive with a powerful and unpredictable performance, drawing the audience to a vigorous final ovation, especially after the vibrant fourth movement.
The concert opened with the opening of "Coriolanus," also by Beethoven, followed by pieces of great emotional depth such as the "Elegy for Strings" by maestro Tchaikovsky, and the "Rosamunda Ballet Suite" by Franz Schubert.
Before the oboe played the tuning note, representatives of the AECC of Cieza offered some moving words of thanks to the audience and the musicians for their support of a cause that "affects us all and for which it is worth uniting to fight."
The success of the event not only underscores the musical quality of the Cieza Philharmonic Orchestra, but also the solidarity of the citizens of Cieza with the essential work carried out by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the town.
