AEMET has issued a bulletin informing of the arrival of a new heat wave starting on Monday the 17th, affecting the Vega del Segura on Tuesday and Wednesday with maximum temperatures between 40ºC and 46ºC in the shade.

Geographical scope: Areas of the central and southern interior of the Iberian Peninsula, depressions of the northeast and
interior of Mallorca.
Start of the situation: Monday 17
 Duration: Until Wednesday the 19th
Probability level: High (greater than 70 %)
 Description of the weather situation:
.
A large anticyclone at mid and upper levels, located in the vicinity of Tunisia and the central Mediterranean, will extend westward in the coming days, approaching the Iberian Peninsula.
.
Thus, starting Monday the 17th, a southerly and southeasterly flow will begin to move over the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, introducing a very warm, dry, and stable air mass, similar to the one that produced a heat wave earlier this week and likely accompanied by haze at higher altitudes. Combined with the high levels of sunshine typical of this time of year, this is expected to produce a rise in temperatures from this day onwards across much of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, except for a few other areas.
in the northwestern third, which will reach very high values in areas of the central and southern interior of the peninsula, depressions in the northeast and in the interior of Mallorca during the first half of the week.
.
On Monday the 17th, the highest temperatures will be reached in the central and southern interior of the peninsula and the Guadiana valley, where they will generally exceed 40°C, as well as in the Guadalquivir valley, where they will exceed 42°C, without ruling out that locally they may reach 44°C.
Temperatures will also be high in the south of the North Plateau and the interior of the northeast quadrant, exceeding 37-38°C in large areas.
.
On Tuesday the 18th, temperatures will rise in the eastern third of the Iberian Peninsula, the upper Ebro Valley, and the Balearic Islands, while remaining stable or decreasing slightly on the Atlantic coast. Temperatures will continue to be very high in the central and southern parts of the peninsula, exceeding 40°C in large areas, and even reaching 42°C locally in the Guadalquivir Valley. This day will be especially hot in the northeastern quadrant and the Balearic Islands, with temperatures likely to exceed 40°C in large areas, and reaching 42°C is possible in the Ebro Valley, the northeastern depressions, northern Catalonia, and inland Mallorca. Temperatures will also be high in
the northern plateau, where temperatures are likely to exceed 37°C.
.
From Wednesday the 19th, a more pronounced drop in temperatures is expected from the northwest, although they will remain high in large areas of the southern and southeastern interior of the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, and, with greater uncertainty, the central Iberian Peninsula. Temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in large areas of the central Iberian Peninsula and the interior of Mallorca, as well as in the southeastern third of the Peninsula and the Guadalquivir Valley, where they could locally exceed 42°C.
.
In the depressions of the northeast, temperatures are also likely to exceed 39-40°C.
Minimum temperatures will also be very high during the episode, especially on Tuesday and Wednesday, with tropical nights, above 20°C, and even locally above 25°C, in the southeastern half of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and also affecting the Mediterranean coastal areas.
.
From Thursday the 20th, the drop in temperatures is most likely to extend to the entire national territory, bringing an end to the heat wave episode, although it is likely that temperatures will still be high in the Guadalquivir valley on this day.
