Lolita Flores and Luis Mottola will be at the Capitol Theatre of Cieza the next Friday, April 6 with the French comedy I prefer that we be friends, a text by Laurent Ruquier co-produced by Pentación, Bitó, and Focus, directed by British author Tamzin Townsend, which began a national tour following its world premiere at Madrid's Teatro La Latina. The play will be performed on Friday at 9:00 p.m.
"I'd rather we be friends." Who hasn't heard this terrible phrase at some point or throughout their life? A sentence that condemns any expectations toward the person they love, that destroys the illusion of being the object of desire, of passion, of forming a couple, of being the other half of their love. With this prayer, HappyEnding your love story fades away and your desired lover becomes a friend…
In this endearing French comedy, we see two friends, so close and so comfortable in each other's company, that when one of them wants to change the rules of friendship, the other is completely blinded and unable to see beyond. Comedy is served here. One is looking for something more passionate than the couch, the movie, and a pizza in the company of his friend, chatting and exchanging stories of conquests.
Frustrations reign, and words are filled with misunderstood feelings; subtle hints and messages are missed.
The play also addresses another universal theme in the female world: the abrupt change in status when you pass a certain age. The feeling of being suddenly invisible to the opposite sex.
This fresh, fast-paced comedy takes us on a fun journey with unexpected twists, ironic conversations, frustrations, and unrequited sexual desire. We see our two protagonists dance a tango, but not to the same song or in the same steps.
