The Environment Department coordinated with the Works and Services Department last week to restore the tree pits and carry out the necessary actions on the elm trees located on the Madrid-Cartagena road, at the northern exit of Cieza, municipal sources report.

At the last meeting of the Local Environmental Council, environmental and nature defense organizations asked the Environment Councillor, Antonio Moya, for the restoration of the tree pits of the elm trees located near the Asensao Bridge.

Following this work, the asphalt on the sidewalk has been removed right up to the tree trunk, allowing sap to flow to the branches. Furthermore, maintenance and improvement work will continue throughout the municipality's trees.

The Environment Department expressed its gratitude in a press release for the coordination and cooperation of the Public Works and Services Department. Furthermore, it stated that “continuing to work on the maintenance and improvement of our municipality makes it a more pleasant city to live in.”
