The Christmas spirit is already in the air at the center, thanks to the launch of the Christmas activities program, which the Department for Seniors of the Department of Social Welfare, headed by Melba Miñano, has implemented to bring Christmas and its traditions closer to seniors.
The program kicked off a few days ago with the launch of a nativity scene painting workshop, taught by master nativity scene artist Pascual Guardiola, who supervises and teaches the workshop to the 15 participants two days a week in the afternoons, enabling them to learn the techniques of painting and decorating traditional nativity scene figures.
This same week, the nativity scene family Juan Bleda and María set up the center's nativity scene for the delight and enjoyment of all the users of Las Morericas.
Regarding the Christmas program, a workshop on making Christmas sweets such as wine donuts, coconut pastries, and roscones will be held next week on Tuesday afternoon, the 17th. This activity has been highly in demand, and the organizers have already registered 100% of the time.
On Wednesday the 18th, the traditional Christmas luncheon will be held downtown, featuring typical Ciezano gazpachos and migas (breadcrumbs). After the meal, there will be lively dancing until late into the night.
On Friday the 20th at 5:30 p.m., the center's theater group will perform "Martina's Christmas," and at 6:00 p.m., the Las Morericas Choir will perform its repertoire of Christmas carols. To conclude the evening, the Three Wise Men's emissaries will visit the center.
On Thursday, December 27th and Friday, December 28th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the intergenerational project "Navidalia" will be developed by IT volunteers from the Las Morericas Municipal Senior Citizens Center. The project aims to promote the values of respect for people and the environment through new technologies, as well as to encourage intergenerational relationships with children.
On both days, the center's choir will also perform in the morning, once again performing its repertoire of Christmas carols for the members of the "Tocaos del Ala, Ángel Soler" association, ACIFAD, and AFEMCE.
For her part, Councilor Melba Miñano commented, "It gives me great satisfaction to see the joyful faces of the users, as well as their level of involvement in the activities, since the unconditional enthusiasm they convey during any workshop is worthy of an example for everyone."
