The Department of Public Works has begun work on these streets to renew the roads and sidewalks, works that are necessary and requested by the residents of the area who proposed it in the participatory Works and Services Plan of 2018-2019.
The councilor for public works, Francisco Saorín, explained that “on Manuel de Falla Street the tiles were very worn, making the ground a slippery area, so the sidewalk will be reconstructed, widening it and installing pedestrian ramps to adapt it to the requirements of accessibility regulations, with the material to be used being prefabricated concrete curbs and paving stones.”
Meanwhile, “the road surface of Rafael Alberti Street has several significant soft spots near the manholes, due to a compaction problem when this road was developed years ago. Therefore, we will repair the existing soft spots and potholes in the road surface, leveling them with a layer of asphalt. In addition, several tree pits damaged by root growth will be repaired, and the road will be marked with the appropriate road markings and vertical signs.”
“I want to emphasize that these commitments stem from this government’s commitment to participation, since through the Department of Citizen Participation we gave all the neighborhood associations in the municipality the opportunity to tell us what actions they considered priorities in their neighborhoods.”
“These works will be followed shortly by others in nearby streets, which has led to the local market being relocated this week. We apologize for any inconvenience the works and relocations may cause, as our intention is simply to carry out actions to continue improving the lives of our residents,” concluded the councilor for public works.
