What is the Youth Guarantee?
The Youth Guarantee is a European initiative that aims to facilitate young people's access to the labor market. In Spain, it is part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy approved in February 2013 by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security. The Youth Guarantee Recommendation establishes that young people can receive an offer of employment, education, or training after completing their studies or becoming unemployed.
Who can be beneficiaries?
Young people who meet the following requirements:
- Hold Spanish nationality or be a citizen of the European Union, a state party to the European Economic Agreement, or Switzerland who is in Spain exercising the right to free movement and residence. Foreigners holding a residence permit in Spanish territory that allows them to work may also register.
- Be registered in any town in Spain.
- Be over 16 years old and under 25, or under 30 years old, in the case of people with a disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, at the time of applying for registration in the National Youth Guarantee System. Additionally, those over 25 years old and under 30 years old must be eligible when, at the time of applying for registration in the National Youth Guarantee System, the unemployment rate for this group is equal to or greater than 20 percent, according to the Labor Force Survey for the last quarter of the year.
- Not having worked on the calendar day prior to the application submission date.
- Not having received educational actions on the calendar day prior to the application submission date.
- Not having received training actions on the calendar day prior to the application submission date.
- Submit an express declaration of interest in participating in the National Youth Guarantee System, committing to active participation in the activities carried out within the framework of the Youth Guarantee. For job seekers, registration with the public employment services will suffice.
Likewise, registration or renewal as a job seeker with a Public Employment Service implies registration in the National Youth Guarantee System, if the indicated requirements are met.
