The Azáutor National Songwriter Competition returns with its second edition to discover and promote emerging artists in the field of singer-songwriter music. The event, organized by the AzáRock Cultural Association for Leisure and Free Time, has become a launching pad for new talent from all over the country, with more than 100 singers participating.
The grand finale will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Cervantes Theater in Abarán, starting at 7:00 PM. The four finalists will compete to win the Golden Azá, worth €800, for best male or female singer-songwriter; and the Silver Azá, worth €250, for the best lyrics among the finalists. The awards were presented by Abarán artist Diego Maniso.
In addition to the performances of the finalists from across Spain—Andrés Iwasaki (Seville), Beatriz González (Malaga), Luismi Partera (Cádiz), and Micu y María (Madrid)—a professional jury composed of prominent figures in regional culture will decide who will win the festival's two awards. The competition will also feature a performance by renowned singer-songwriter Pedro Guerra, who is visiting the municipality of Abarán for the first time.
Having Pedro Guerra on board for our second edition of the Azáutor Competition is a milestone for the Association, which year after year strives to bring the most diverse aspects of the national music scene to the town of Abarán. In addition to this Competition, the Association organizes the AzáRock festival during Abarán's patron saint festivities, which featured Sôber and Ciclonautas last September.
