Cieza City Council has announced that the local police will enforce seatbelt use more intensively this week, in support of the new campaign being implemented by the provincial traffic headquarters, which will run until September 17.

The provincial traffic headquarters of Murcia has started a new campaign to control the use of seat belts and child restraint systems that will last until September 17, in which the following have joined:from the Local Police of Cieza.

According to sources from the government delegation in Murcia, from January 1 to August 31, 2017, 15 people died: 6 drivers and 9 passengers. Of the 6 drivers, 5 were wearing a seatbelt and 1 was not, while of the 9 passengers, 7 were wearing a seatbelt and 2 were not.

Regarding vans, three people died: two drivers and one passenger. None of the drivers were wearing a seatbelt, sources indicated, adding that in agricultural vehicles, one driver died because he was not wearing a seatbelt.
