“The image of Christ of the Crowning of Thorns, through the lens of

full of dramatic expressiveness.”

Just as every evening is followed by night and then morning, it is not possible to stop
neither time nor the passing of the seasons. Holy Week arrives in our Cieza, as it has
reached all corners of the world for almost two millennia, above what
that nature and civilizations had planned for each of those years.
It arrives now in 2021, and finds us once again entangled with this pandemic, which
So much suffering is causing the world, which means that, for another year, they will not leave
the processions, nor will we be able to turn these days into that permanent reunion that
means so much in our lives.

But it is still Holy Week, we are in Cieza, and the brothers cannot
look elsewhere as if these dates, coming without parades, were no longer
with us. We still have the obligation to announce to the world that we are going to
commemorate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ, who did not suffer, died and rose again
to give opportunity to the processions, but to give meaning to our happiness already
our pain, to be hope, to fill our existence with meaning.
We can live the commemoration of these essential days of the History of Salvation
as we would have liked, but that does not mean we abandon our status as members of the brotherhood,
nor are we going to stop reminding the people of Cieza that here, in this town, it is Holy Week
All year round, as we like to say, it is also Holy Week every year,
also this one, also 2021.

And that is why the Board of Passion Brotherhoods proudly presents its Poster of
Holy Week 2021, illustrated on this occasion with a splendid photograph of the
Christ of the Coronation of Thorns procession, a magnificent work by Romero Zafra de la
Brotherhood of Jesus of Nazareth. The author of the snapshot, José María Cámara Salmerón,
who has renewed the role of winner of the Contest that he already achieved in the last edition,
embodies in itself some of the main virtues of the brotherhood of race: illusion,
desire for improvement, work, perseverance; all of this put at the service of an unquestionable
artistic instinct, and a clamorous mastery of photographic technique. José María
Cámara has achieved the extremely difficult challenge of reaching the category of the unforgettable poster of
last year, with the Ecce Homo as the protagonist. Two posters twinned by their
author, and by its condition of study, but very different in communication and impact: the
serene and majestic elegance of the work of González Moreno, which Cámara Salmerón

pushed to the limit with his composition and wise management of light, now leaves
I step into the tearing of the gaze pierced by the pain of this Christ, who questions the
spectator with the undeniable forcefulness of an extreme close-up, underlined by a
even more risky composition and by an intense play of light and shadow to
emphasize the drama.

The result will not only remind the world of the excellence of the imaginary heritage
of our Holy Week, but also invites us to reflect on the Passion, which
Christ voluntarily accepted to become a brother with all humanity in the
suffering, so that no one could ever feel abandoned by God in the
misfortune, because He Himself became flesh, suffered the fragility of the flesh, and then
He defeated death by leaving the tomb empty. We offer this poster to the people of Cieza
knowing that in many homes in our town there is pain for the loss, and there is
Uncertainty, and there is fear. And we offer it publicly, as brothers that we are,
thereby giving everything that this condition implies: faith, brotherhood, prayer, penance, and
above all, hope.

The pandemic will subside, we will hug each other again with our robes on, and we will return
to take the Saints to the streets. But we won't wait until then to live what we are.
Even if we take off that tunic, we will not stop saying, to the four winds and with everything
pride, “this is Cieza, we are in Holy Week.”
