The organizers of the Siyâsa Gran Trail presented all the details of the 2025 edition of the mountain running event in Abarán this Wednesday afternoon.
Juan Manuel Abellán, promoter of the event, was attended by Francisco Javier Sánchez, Director General of Sports of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, and representatives of the municipalities of Valle de Ricote and Vega Alta, including Tomás Rubio, Mayor of Cieza, and Cristo Manuel Lucas, Councilor for Sports. Also in attendance were José Antonio Carrillo, national athletics coach, who will be in charge of kicking off one of the races on October 11, and Alejo Lucas, journalist from Cieza and Gold Number of the Siyâsa 2025.
With its three editions, the event has attracted hundreds of fans of this sport throughout the Ricote Valley, where last year the economic impact, according to Abellán, exceeded €100,000.
The 2025 edition is packed with new features: it will be more inclusive, international, and charitable, with one euro of each registration going to the Ascopas Association. It will also feature new outings that will delight and, above all, raise awareness of the beauty of the wonderful surroundings of the Ricote Valley.
Another new development is the creation of a youth league, with distances of 6 and 9 kilometers. This will also be a Regional Championship, known as Siyâsa Kids. This league will honor Cieza coach José Antonio Carrillo for his extensive and distinguished career.
This year, the Ricote Valley Trophy has also been created, which will award the best runner from each municipality in each of the events to recognize the involvement of local runners.
The flagship event, the ultra, introduces a major change by moving its start to Ulea. It will cover a 65-kilometer course with a 3,100-meter elevation gain, finishing in Cieza. The marathon, 42 kilometers long and with a 2,300-meter elevation gain, will start from the church of San Sebastián in Ricote. Abarán will once again take center stage, hosting the 25- and 15-kilometer starts.
