The preventive measures, which will be monitored by environmental agents, will be applied from 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, until 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12.

The Community will regulate activities and access to public forests to prevent fires due to the high temperatures expected in the coming days. To this end, it has adopted extraordinary prevention measures, which will be monitored by environmental agents and will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. on July 11th until 7:00 a.m. on the 15th.

The resolution restricts vehicular traffic for motor vehicles and machinery and closes access via forest roads that cross public forests. The measure safeguards the traffic necessary to access homes, properties, and forestry operations. Environmental monitoring by environmental agents and other authorities or public employees will also not be restricted, nor will access via paved forest roads, when justified for safety reasons.

"For the third time this year, the extreme temperature conditions that the Region of Murcia will experience from tomorrow until next Saturday have led to extraordinary decisions requiring us to implement preventive measures in public regional forest areas. Specific, supervised access has also been established to information points within the Protected Natural Areas network and to service concessions in public forests," explained María Cruz Ferreira, Director General of the Natural Environment.

"Specific, supervised access points have been established to the information points of the network of Protected Natural Areas and service concessions in public forests."

According to the forecasts issued by the AEMET (Mexico City Meteorological Agency) and regional technicians, severe forest fire risk conditions are expected in the coming days due to the invasion of a torrid air mass that will affect the south of the Iberian Peninsula, causing air stagnation that will warm day by day, and also due to the absence of moderate winds.

With this prediction, Ferreira indicated that "it is necessary to implement specific measures and recommendations to reduce the risk of fires in the region's forests, adding to the usual control measures new measures to prevent the movement of people and activities that endanger our natural environments."
