The preventative measures, which will be monitored by environmental agents, will be in effect from 06:00 today until 07:00 on July 15th.

The Community will regulate activities and access to public forests to prevent fires due to the high temperatures expected in the coming days. To this end, it has adopted extraordinary prevention measures, which will be monitored by environmental agents and will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. on July 11th until 7:00 a.m. on the 15th.

The resolution restricts vehicular traffic for motor vehicles and machinery and closes access via forest roads that cross public forests. The measure safeguards the traffic necessary to access homes, properties, and forestry operations. Environmental monitoring by environmental agents and other authorities or public employees will also not be restricted, nor will access via paved forest roads, when justified for safety reasons.

“For the first time this summer, and the second time this year, the extreme temperatures expected in the Region of Murcia from today until next Friday have led to extraordinary measures requiring us to activate preventative measures in the region's public forest areas. Specific, supervised access points have also been established for the information centers of the Protected Natural Areas network and for service concessions in public forests,” explained the Director General of Natural Environment, María Cruz Ferreira.

"Specific, supervised access points have been established to the information points of the network of Protected Natural Areas and service concessions in public forests."

According to the forecasts issued by the AEMET (Mexico City Meteorological Agency) and regional technicians, severe forest fire risk conditions are expected in the coming days due to the invasion of a torrid air mass that will affect the south of the Iberian Peninsula, causing air stagnation that will warm day by day, and also due to the absence of moderate winds.

With this prediction, Ferreira indicated that "it is necessary to implement specific measures and recommendations to reduce the risk of fires in the region's forests, adding to the usual control measures new measures to prevent the movement of people and activities that endanger our natural environments."

Additionally, activities requiring the use of machinery, fireworks, and fires in recreational areas are prohibited, as is the holding of motor vehicle trials or competitions that cross public or private forest land.

Finally, remember that the use of fire in agriculture is prohibited during the months of July and August, so environmental officials will be especially vigilant regarding this ban.
