The Cieza Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Cieza Local Police, has rescued a hiker in La Atalaya de Cieza who had suffered a severe muscle strain in his leg that prevented him from resuming his hike.

The alert was received on January 1st, when several people reported to the Civil Guard that, while hiking, one of the group members had suffered a severe leg strain.

Apparently, due to the rugged terrain, his companions were unable to move him, so they went down to the area closest to the road to inform the officers of his location.

A Civil Guard patrol was dispatched to the scene and, with the assistance of Cieza Local Police officers, managed to place the injured man on a stretcher. The rescue culminated when the Civil Guard, Local Police, and paramedics from the Cieza hospital carried the injured man on foot to the ambulance.

The injured man was taken to the Lorenzo Guirao regional hospital in Cieza, where he was treated and released a few hours later.
