The Brotherhood of Santa Verónica, in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the Cieza City Council and the FAMU, is organizing the 15th San Silvestre “Ciudad de Cieza” Memorial Antonio S. Piñera López on Tuesday, December 31.
One of the most traditional end-of-year events in recent years, the San Silvestre “Ciudad de Cieza” Antonio S. Piñera López Memorial, will celebrate its 15th edition this Tuesday, December 31st.
The race will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the junior events, followed by the full race at 5:30 p.m., covering a distance of approximately 5.8 km with the start and finish at Esquina del Convento.

Registration for the event, organized by the Brotherhood of Santa Verónica in collaboration with the Department of Sports of the Cieza City Council and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, is still open through Alcanza Tu Meta until this Saturday, the 28th, at 11:59 p.m. For card payments (POS), or until the registration limit is reached.
The event held its presentation ceremony, attended by, among others, the president of the Brotherhood, Carlos Gustavo Aroca, as well as the Sports Councilor of Cieza City Council, Cristo Manuel Lucas, and Ana Pérez, representing the Friends of Bolivia Association. This year, the charity donation will be used for a palliative care project in the most disadvantaged areas of the city of El Alto.
Race numbers can be collected on Monday the 30th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday the 31st, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Please remember that you must show your ID or proof of identity to collect them. In the case of the absolute race, trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category, as well as a ham for the first place overall.
Awards for best costume and best comparsa
A ham will also be awarded to the best costume, while the best costumed troupe will receive a lunch/dinner valued at €300. The second-best troupe will receive the same prize valued at €150, and the best costumed duo will receive a prize valued at €60.
The first place winner in each category will receive a batch of traditional artisanal products, with wine and cheese for the second place winner, and Murciatonne for the third place winner. In addition, prizes in sports equipment will be awarded to the first runner to pass the Túnis Sport (Calle Carreterica de Posete, km 3 approx.), as well as to the 100th runner, the runner with the funniest costume, the oldest runner, and the effort award.
All participants will receive a runner's bag with a technical T-shirt. Runners in the smaller participation events will receive a commemorative medal, and the top three in each category will also be recognized.
