The Cieza City Council's Local Government Board approved this week the contract for road reinforcement and sidewalk remodeling on Federico García Lorca, Quevedo, and Cordovín streets. The budget is €141,751.51.

The works are funded by the Complementary Plan of the CARM Works and Services Plan (POS 2022/2023).

The local government reports that "in addition, as part of this plan, in Cieza, the works around the Camino de la Estación have already been completed."

The work to be carried out now consists, first, of paving demolition. The sidewalks on the affected sections of Federico García Lorca Street will be demolished for replacement, as will the curbs bordering the roadway, which are severely deteriorated. The sidewalk will then be rebuilt. The demolished sidewalk on the left side of the road will be replaced, and the tree pits affected by tree roots will be repaired, widened and delimited with garden kerbs. The missing trees will also be replaced, and an irrigation system will be installed on the affected sidewalk.

On the other hand, sidewalk fords will be created. The road surface will be rehabilitated, for which a solution consisting of raising the surface has been chosen, avoiding interruptions and prolonged traffic cuts in order to cause minimal inconvenience to users.

Finally, the area will be equipped with vertical and horizontal signage.

Government sources estimate a three-month completion period for the works.
