The Department of Women and Equal Opportunities inaugurated the exhibition "Don't Be an Accomplice" this Wednesday. The event was attended by the Mayor of Cieza, Pascual Lucas; the head of the department, Cristina García-Vaso; the Councilor for Museums, Pilar Martínez; and representatives of Cieza's women's associations belonging to the Local Municipal Women's Council. The exhibition's touring tours to various towns is co-funded by the European Social Fund.

'Don't be an accomplice' It is on loan from the Institute for Women and Equal Opportunities of Madrid, through the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, and co-financed by the European Social Fund. The collection of photos and graphic montages reflects human trafficking, specifically the trafficking of women for sexual exploitation.

Sources from Mujer indicate that "human trafficking constitutes a serious violation of human dignity and freedom and is a form of serious crime, which in most cases involves criminal organizations that provide significant profits based on the use of people for various purposes of exploitation."

They add that, "in this case, trafficking for sexual exploitation is one of the cruelest forms of this illicit trade and is taking on dimensions that surpass those of other forms of trafficking. It disproportionately affects women, not only because they account for the majority of victims, but because the forms of exploitation to which they are subjected are often the most severe."

This exhibition by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence denounces the situations of human trafficking that exist in our country, shows the stages of trafficking (recruitment, transportation, and exploitation), highlights the factors that make the victim vulnerable, and reflects the causes and consequences of this serious violation of women's rights.

The exhibition will be open at the Siyâsa Museum in Cieza, until March 31st, with free admission, following the Museum's opening hours.
