The closure of all establishments has also been decreed for Cieza, except those that supply essential goods. Therefore, pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations, tobacco shops, and newsstands may remain open.

From Cieza En Tu Mano, we call for calm and to stay home so this passes as soon as possible, taking as many precautions as possible, since in Cieza, to date, there are still no cases of Covid-19 infection.

STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE REGION OF MURCIA, FERNANDO LÓPEZ MIRAS

Since the arrival of the coronavirus in Spain, and more intensely since the first case was detected in the Region of Murcia, the regional government has been taking action, making decisions, and implementing measures to stop or, where appropriate, slow the spread of this virus among the inhabitants of our community. Thus, yesterday, and after conducting the relevant consultations, we made a drastic decision ordering the lockdown of the coastal municipalities of the Region of Murcia. From the outset, we have appealed to everyone's responsibility, common sense, and cooperation, as this is a public health problem that affects us all and whose solution also depends on all of us.

Unfortunately, less than 24 hours after the announcement of this decision, several mayors in the region have expressed their concern to me about the lack of awareness among those who continue to ignore the recommendations of the health authorities; a concern we fully share and which has led the regional government to take a further step, following the instructions of the health authorities.

As of today, the closure order is being extended to the rest of the Region of Murcia. The establishments mentioned in the order (cinemas, nightclubs, restaurants, bars, and other similar leisure and entertainment establishments, as well as shops and shopping centers, with the exception of those that supply essential goods) must close for at least 14 days. Pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations, tobacco shops, and newsstands may therefore remain open.

This is yet another measure we are implementing, but it may not be the last, if circumstances so require. The health and safety of all Murcians is an absolute priority for the regional government, and we cannot allow uncivil behavior to endanger us. Once again, we call for social co-responsibility. We ask for everyone's collaboration and involvement. It is urgent, essential, and cannot be postponed.

In this regard, it is important to emphasize that the supply of essential products to supermarkets in the Region of Murcia is guaranteed, as the regional food distribution officials, with whom we met at the San Esteban Palace, informed us yesterday. We remind the public to remain calm when stocking up on products and emphasize the need to maintain the safety distance of one and a half meters from other people recommended by health authorities.

Likewise, we once again extend the recognition and gratitude of all Murcian society to the healthcare professionals who these days are demonstrating a true vocation for public service, dedication, and courage that we will hardly ever be able to repay.

We are convinced that, together, we will succeed.
