Last Saturday, May 6, the 9th Spanish Road Mile Championship was held in Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia. José Antonio Fernández Villa, from Cieza, of the Grupo Alcaraz team, took third place and a bronze medal in the M55 veterans category.
First place, a gold medal, went to Francisco Manuel Ramírez Gaitano (world champion) and second place, a silver medal, went to Enrique Carmona Herrerías (champion of Andalusia).
Fernández Villa has been, among others, Regional Champion of the Cross Country League and 4x400, and in 2017 he was Regional Runner-up in the 1500m outdoors in the M50 category and Regional Team Champion in cross country with the Alcaraz Group.
