The lecture will be given by Pedro Peinado Rocamora, a member of EDICES (Research Team of the Spanish Center for Sindonology) and CES (Spanish Center for Sindonology); he will discuss the latest discoveries made by Professor Pedro Peinado regarding the correlation between the Turin Shroud and the Oviedo Shroud, as well as their possible relationship with the historical figure of Jesus of Nazareth.
Peinado is a scholar of the Turin Shroud. His latest research has focused on investigating whether the Shroud of Oviedo, which has remained in the Holy Chamber of the Cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo for almost a thousand years, is the Shroud of Christ. According to Christian tradition, it was Saint Veronica who handed Jesus of Nazareth a cloth or linen so that he could wipe away his sweat and blood. The Holy Face was miraculously imprinted on the cloth. This scene does not appear in the canonical gospels, although it is part of the story in the apocryphal gospels.
