A window to nature, the exhibition of the 9th "Blossoming of Cieza" Photography Competition offers a superb collection of images from different corners of the municipality, both agricultural and natural, where the beauty of this natural phenomenon that explodes with the arrival of spring is evident. The photographer, immersed in the landscape, is a privileged witness to a sunset under a blanket of flowers or to almost dreamlike settings, but also to the farmer's hand in shaping this landscape. The finalist and award-winning photographs demonstrate that the importance given to any place depends, above all, on the eyes with which it is viewed.
In its ninth edition, the "Floración de Cieza" Photography Contest, organized by the Cieza Photographic Association (CAF) in collaboration with the city council, had an even tougher time: up to one hundred and nine high-quality photographs were submitted by nearly thirty participants. Each year, the diversity and quality of the entries increases, and participation grows with each new edition. The jury had a tough time selecting the winning images. Miguel Sotomayor, a native of the Valencian Community, emerged as the winner of the photography contest with the image entitled "Sun and Shadow in a Sea of Pink," the first prize of which is 500 euros.
Salvador Belda and Carlos Izquierdo, with their works "Alborada" and "Mientras duermen las flores," received second and third prizes, respectively, which also include cash awards. Ramón Morcillo, president of the Cieza Photography Association, recognized the artistic talent and technique of the award-winning works at an event presided over by Antonio Moya, Councilor for Tourism. The opening of the exhibition in the Andalusian houses of the Siyâsa Museum was attended by Conchi Villa, Councilor for Museums and Culture, Melba Miñano, and Municipal Council members Manuel Egea and Laura Villa. This activity is included in the Floración program and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a maximum capacity of 50 percent in each room.
